Comment:

Music from the first half of the last century. No attention paid to genre or chronological separation--merely a broad sampler of my favorite old tunes. These are the songs that keep me company in the dark, and hold my hand at night. It's not that I hate modern music, but Tin Pan Alley and Dixieland remind me that humanity is a constant condition, rather than my own personal problem. At any rate, these cd's are meant as xmas gifts, designed to introduce my friends to the good stuff. Anyone who cannot see that 'Moanin' for You' is one of the ten greatest pop ballads of all time is beyond redemption.

Wow. Very impressive. I don't really know much of any of this, but I don't doubt the quality...

Wonderful music on both volumes. The more I delve into the pre-WWII stuff, the more I love it.

Hmm, that should read "really." Wasn't going for an affected, blue blood accent ("rahlly dahling...").

What do I know? Very little, but I am a big fan of Bessie Smith. 5, 7 and 21 are also on my (hypothetical) play list.

Really, really nice, especially the Gene Autry and Sonny Boy Williamson - I would absolutely love to hear this. I'm sure they went down really well at Christmas.
