this is a very special mix i've made for my aunty jen, who's moving away. now, she's not exactly my aunty, but my uncle's girlfriend. anyway, she's been living down here for ages and i suppose i've only just realised what an amazing woman she is, and how i'm desperately going to miss her. she's split with my uncle, she's moving north to Byron. over the years she's given me so much support, creatively, and emotionally. she's one of those people who makes a difference, who helps to reaffirm your identity and tell you that no matter what anyone else says, it's good to be you. now that i've finished school, we've been hanging out lots, and just realising how similar we are and how well we get on. but she needs to move away from here, so i say my farewells. every song on this mix means something. deeply or trivially. it's about travelling, splitting up, sadness at leaving and excitement at changing. SP's lily is simply because her cat's name is lily (and strangely enough, she's just as aloof as the lily in the song). and then there's AOF's reasons are all i have left, and this song to me is the ultimate song about running away, leaving it all behind, knowing that you're meant for something else, not knowing anything else but the pure simple fact that you're going. and finally, the last song is just my reminder to her that although she has her doubts, the day she leaves will indeed be a day to be certain. www.explodingdog.com/january2/goodbyefornow.html
