Comment:
I've started to appreciate this band only recently, after pretty much ignoring them for twenty years (their music was always a bit too synth-based and lethargic for me to really embrace). However, after hearing Paul Buchanan perform acoustically on a radio show a couple of months ago (and absolutely loving his voice), I started to re-evaluate them; now I've got all four of their records, although I may get rid of one or two (Peace at Last is certainly in contention for the trade pile). But, to me, this is the cream of their crop and pretty much includes all of the songs I wanted to include. Their best moments are very beautiful, for sure.Feedback:
Here is another one to check out. Your single artist mixes are always great!
The Blue Nile are incredible - very awesome stuff...
Need to check this out. Only know a few tunes by them.
Ditto George. Looks interesting, to say the least.
They hail from my part of the globe, and yet all I've ever heard is "Tinseltown in the rain". I perhaps have unfairly labelled them as "New romantic", but this has given me pause for thought. Nice choice, once again, for a single artist mix, Rob
I love the second album...the rest I haven't heard enough of!
& bless em they're easy on the purse strings to keep up with!
Nice
Wonderful, Rob - thanks for pointing me in the direction of this one! BBC Radio Scotland did a show the other day on the best Scottish music (Orange Juice, Franz Ferdinand et al) and The Blue Nile appeared on there - and I was really digging it. (Can't remember which song, unfortunately!) So like yourself I've only really started to appreciate them - although, like Gerry, they're from my part of the world. If you wanted to put this into our trade then I wouldn't object at all! :)
I too have only recently started to appreciate this band. I always thought they were kind of boring, but recently I'm finding out that they made some great songs.
blue nile is AMAZING
oooh. I get chills checking through your mixing history. Because of Toledo is currently on repeat in my CD player. You inspire me to be a better person, Mr. Conroy.
