Comment:
George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, Rodgers and Hart, Dorothy Fields, Harold Arlen ...... just a few of the creators of the American canon. You can't grow up without knowing these tunes and a good bit of the lyrics as well. When I was growing up my mom used to sing a bunch of these (along with Hank Williams, the Carter Family, and the Sons of the Pioneers!) while she did her housework. This one's for Mom.Feedback:
It's The Great American Songbook! Beautiful collection.
Very nice. I'm not a fan of some of the instrumentation and arranging on that Willie Nelson album, but I think the bulk of this mix is top-notch. I'd even be interested in a trade if there's anything of mine that interests you.
LOVELY!
I was going to do something like this, Steve, but you have most definitely beat me to the punch. About a dozen of your picks would have been in my mix, so I'll leave that for another time. A truly tremendous collection. I may be known as a mad-psychy/ freakbeat fan, but I can't get enough of these old songs. I also dig the sentiment towards your mom. I'm sure she'll love this one. I am interested in a lot of your latest stuff, so if you fancy another trade sometime, just drop me a line. Hope you're well, my friend!
Glorious. Love the Ink Spots through Ray Charles stretch especially.
Love it!
Great.
This is truly great!
Star dust memories . . . they can't take that away from me.
Do you think your Mom would be willing to trade this?

Oh just great - I especially love the Ella & Satch through Louis Prima stretch.
My folks & I used to sing these around the piano on weekend eveings, and my mom would love this too.
