Comment:
Another day, another theme mix... well, actually, prepared in tandem with Name Dropper! -- if you're going to dig through boxes of old cd's searching for random titles to fit a theme mix, better to kill two birds with one stone. This one actually worked out better, no doubt due to the large number of drug-related songs allowing a bit more flexibility. Opted for as wide a range of sounds and drugs (or lack of such) as space would allow. And like many children of the 70's, my drug-induced hazes are often permeated by visions of H.R. Pufnstuf. Not to mention Lidsville -- oy, the nightmares brought on by Lidsville.Feedback:
Quite superb, Marc. Great tracks, and a far-out, groovy cover, maaaaaaaan!
So Marc. what you been doing lately?
Really nice work, Marc - well done especially on the Of Montreal and Modern Lovers picks. And a fantastic cover too.
Ditto Gerry McD on the cover, and loving the DoS, CvB & Robyn picks. What's "I'm Straight" doing in there?
Looks good - love that cover.
Yeah, great cover. Good mix too.
Yeah, this is great. You've seen my heroin mix, right?
Great mix. A lot of superb selections.
Some wonderful sounds here.
Sweet, sweet drugs...
I'd forgotten about Rob's fine heroin mix... and, yes, I think there was another drug-related mix that went up recently. I tried to broaden the perspective a bit (i.e. to answer the question below, even included "I'm Straight" as a token anti-drug song).
That cover image is going to stay with me for a loooooooooooooong time. Nice mix. I like him, too. I like Hipppie Johnny...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! LIDSVILLE!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!!
Great mix.
Thanks for the memory...
Great mix.
Thanks for the memory...
I wasn't saying that as a rip, btw... this is a great mix. It just reminded me that I meant to do a couple of other specific drug-related discs (pot, acid, etc.). Kind of funny, since you couldn't pay me to ever use heroin, nor would I be interested in acid (not that I ever was, other than as an intellectual curiosity that I did not follow up) or pot these days.
Beautiful man ...
Far out Man.
Great mix and fantastic cover! That Camper song never ceases to make me laugh.
this is awesome, love the cover art
Good everything here..great stuff!
Hell yeah.
Nice mix! But Captain Trips isn't included! Lou Reed's Heroin always scared the hell out of me. There are enough great drug songs that maybe a vol 2 is warranted? (got to get a cocaine song in #2, maybe Cab Calloway?) It's funny - back in the 80's I worked with someone who grew up in inner city Chicago who had no fear of heroin & was scared to death of acid & me, a suburban kid, had exactly the opposite feelings.
oh, how i love the Lidsville. songs like this make me wish i was an addict... to something other than rock ... and crack. I used to love hearing Pink Slip Daddy do "I'm high on drugs". Drug songs are fun.
Will this mix will get you through times of no drugs better than drugs will get you through times of no mixes? A false dilemma, let's have lots of both!
Damn! The drugs do work! I hope you're not playing this when the kids are around. The cover is superb. Three 70s powerhouses gathered together. What I would have paid to have been the photographer to capture this historical occasion. So why didn't you include the theme from Lidsville from that CD I sent you?
I'm with Lally and JdV...could be multi-prescriptive.
Now THAT is a mix cover! And what a mix. The best theme discs are the ones that stand up on their own even if you weren't aware of the thme. This totally does. One of my favorite Hitchcock songs, and a killer 20/20 song.
