Comment:

Time once again for my annual round-up of the year's best. If I thought '99 was weak, whoa. The year was pretty much quality hip-hop free (yes, I hate Eminem), and the tape includes some late singles from '99. (I think the last tune on side A kinda sums things up) But not every year can be '89 or '98.

This is a great mix, lot of great songs, but I've got to beg to differ with the idea that 2000 was free of quality hip-hop. 2000 saw material from Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek, Dead Prez, some good tracks on the Bamboozled soundtrack, OutKast, Wu-Tang, De La Soul, Some Drum'n'Bass/Hip-Hop fusion, not to mention tons of white labels. I think that unfortunately, all the attention given Eminem obscures the really good stuff that's been out there lately.

Blackalicious put out an incredible album in 2000. Heard it?
