Comment:

wow! this was the fabled lost mix of some time last year. i lost the tracklist shortly after i'd made it and since then i've been wondering where it got to. a few days ago, in a wild search to find my birth certificate, it surfaced. it was like finding a lost treasure. i was so happy, man. anyway, it's appropriate too, as my friendship with nikki (for whom the tape was made) drifted and has recently somewhat reconnected. here's the original letter which accompanied said mix: the idea for this tape first crash landed in my head after reflecting on childhood books. i thought nikki nighthawkk was a cute name and i remembered nicky the kitten who was afraid of noises in the night. then i remembered an even better book, because it was about nick AND maddy. and i thought 'perfect!' when i realised i could divide the tape into one side being the CHILD (cutey happy boppy or sweet and sleepy pretty music) and one side being WILD (crazy dancy screamy sqealy or dirty dark and heart-wrenchingly self destructive music). and i'm sure your idea of wild is different to mine. but 'tis the way of the world and i'm working in a different frame of musical mind than you may be. although we do intersect at some points, and that's enough for a connection. so dear boy, i hope you enjoy my creation. it's a beautiful thing, to be able to share music. [[life is short, art is long, motives are complex and human nature is endlessly fascinating.]] >> for the record, his tape is the best anyone has ever made for me.

With one exception, this looks fantastic. I like the story . . . . maybe I could do something with 'the secret seven' in a similar vein.Bjork really gets on my tits, however. Sorry, I know there she has a lot of fans (but I have tried really hard and just don't get it).
