Comment:
What I did over winter break: checked out CDs from the library. And made this tape. Not a "proper" mix tape per se -- more of a compilation. And one for the whole family, no less.A selected bibliography: Anonymous 4 "Ladymass"; Anthology of American Folk Music Vol. 4; Bill Evans Trio "Explorations"; Best of Dusty Springfield; Otis Redding Anthology; Ornette Coleman "Soapsuds, Soapsuds"; The Pixies Live at the BBC; a Chris Isaak album; Sean Lennon "Into the Sun"; a tribute to the Anthology of American Folk Music; Miles Davis "Bitches Brew" (appearing separately); Massive Attack "Mezzanine" (appearing separately); Elvis Costello & the Attractions "All This Useless Beauty" (appearing separately).
Look for outtakes on an upcoming mix.
Feedback:
Weird. I have the first Folkways box & tribute CDs out from my library too. Inspired by KBs Jazz series & the "Oh Brother..." soundtrack, I'm attempting a new/old antique music mix.
Interesting stuff--love that Dusty! Hey, are you from Omaha like me? How many areas have a "Millard Branch' library I wonder....
I'm trying to find out what year that the "Tennessee Gravy Train" was recorded. Any help would be appreciated; thanks in advance.
