Comment:

In the age of mp3 swapping, bit torrent downloads, etc., I remain the record industry's wet dream. A total sucker. Dump yet another reissue on the market, remaster it yet again, toss in a few bonus tracks, and I'm sure to pick it up. It gets kinda sick when you're already on the 3rd version of a cd (never mind the vinyl & tapes). But, hey, what can I say, it's still cheaper than buying nice cars (or at least that's what I say when my wife complains about the ever-growing stacks of cd's). So, anyway, here's a bunch of "bonus tracks" pulled from various "Deluxe Reissues" and similar expanded edition releases. Mostly live/demo/alternate versions, plus a few previously unissued studio gems. Loads more for volume 2 (ad nauseum) if I get around to it.

As a fellow sucker, I appreciate this fine mix. My multiples are Are You Experienced? and Ziggy Stardust. Great cover.

Superb stuff, Marc. I am a sucker for "special editions" too, and I have the same problem viz-a-viz expanding cd space and upset spouse. Maybe we should start a wee support group "Cd junkies anonymous" or something? Wait a minute? isn't that what AOTM is? or is that a cause of it? way too many questins for a Sunday morning............

Like Jonny Rotten said "have you ever felt you been cheated" ;), It always seems so fantastic when I bought a record for, let's say the third time around(with London Calling it was actually the fourth time) but often ends up in the pile for not so frequently listen albums but someetimes like all the Marley stuff and Costello it was really worth it.

Nice. There's often a good reason why those bonus tracks weren't released in the first place. But I find enough gems to keep buying....

I'm still relatively a newbie in album purchasing so a lot of my albums are reissues. I have, however, bought the first two Pavement albums twice and a couple of others. Anyway, great mix.

I'm not a sucker. I'm gonna wait for you to reissue this mix with Nirvana's "You Know You're Right" as an extra track.

excellent! But some bonus tracks definitely are worth it. I am not a Byrds expert, but on one of their reissues we get the bonus of them doing the Crosby song Triage. It's a nice one to compare it to the way the Airplane did it.

Great theme. Reminds me of several difficult decisions in my student days regarding the purchase of import singles for the B sides. Count Chocula for president!

Great mix. I'm with you on the bonus tracks, extras, etc. I've also thought about doing mixes with this type of material. Sometime.

Yes, it's second hand news that all my friends will keep buying CD repackages and reissues. We just have to stay true to the rock 'n' roll and not get fooled again.

Hehehehe, nice cover. I approve. I have to say, I do also succumb to reissues etc. sometimes - and I have been pleased with some bonus tracks, without a doubt. But I think Gerry's support group idea might not be so bad! :) This does look great - you've chosen wisely. Like the Uncle Tupelo and Flaming Lips especially.

It looks like we've bought many of the same reissues! So many of your mixes are like looking through my own collection.

Yep - I feel like such a sucker when the DEE-luxe cd reissues come out, and yet they frequently top my regular purchase lists. I love that Dave Davies track, by the way. Good stuff, all around. By the way, your mixes were in heavy rotation while house painting over the weekend.

Agree with all who've gone before.., as someone who's had some items in three (or four!) formats. Bonuses are always welcomed.

You've got a wife complaining about stacks of CD's? You're kidding! My wife never gives me ultimatums like, "It's the CD's or me, bub!" - Never!

Well, almost never...

This is kinda like a public service mix! We can get a preview without having to rebuy everything, although I generally like the re-releases.
