Comment:

A major drawback of having catholic (or if you prefer, indiscriminate) musical tastes but limited income is that a lot of stuff particularly contemporary stuff tends to slip beneath the radar.

Case in point: it's only in the last 12 moths or so that I've become fully acquainted with Tortoise. One listen though & I was hooked.

What really impressed me was that they reminded me of loads of things I love without actually sounding like any of them & sent me to corners of my collection I hadn't visited in a while.

Whether those influences are really there or whether it's just me projecting is a moot point. Either way, I had a lot of fun putting together these 2 CDs of resonances.

Nice picks. Some of my old favs (which this will make me listen to again!) here too: Henry COw, Soft Machine, King Crimson....I applaud catholic tastes & broad mixes.
