Comment:
For the hell of it. Thanks to lo-fi for reminding me how much I love that Godz song (it was on his latest--very fine--mix creation) and to p the swede for the Siren track. Title from Jarvis Cocker. Oh, and I have to admit that I decided that Yoko's 17-minute song worked better as an 11-and-a-half minute song, so I edited accordingly (incorporating a long, slow 45-second fade for effect). :-) [Note: I seriously revised the ending of this on 3/14/05. I really appreciate all of the positive comments that folks had about that section but, quite frankly, that series of songs wasn't working for me at all after repeated listens. So this mix no longer includes Jimmy Cliff, the Flaming Lips or Gil Scott-Heron. But trust me, it works much better now.]Feedback:
love the Husker DU track. The rest is nice too.
Donovan and McCartney were friends in real life.
Looks great, Rob.

The sound of something good too!
Looks very nice. :)
THIS one goes up to eleven!
Very Cool looking mix, Rob. Yoko & Sir Paul side-by-side? Now that would be something!
Very nice.
Looks good especially 15--out
Fantastic!
Nice one. Especiually like the opening threee and closing three tracks.
looks interesting Rob!!!!!!
mmm... and there's that Dungen track. I like it... and I'll have to check out The Godz.
Sorry I missed this one. Looks fantastic, Rob. Love the Beefheart, Prince, Godz, Dungen and Wire->Jimmy Cliff stretch at the end there a LOT.
A lot of great stuff here. Digging 1, 3, 9 and 12 - 18.
Hey Rob - I'll bet you have all the material to make a lovely pastoral Donovan single or double mix that focuses (for the most part) on the songs that are not hits. I only have his greatest hits, but would love some English countryside Donovan. Make Donovan take me on a picnic to the English Lake District. We could all use it given the recent snow, eh?Maybe you would want the Almost Famous? Very nice counterpoints there between the Green era and the blissful Kirwin/C.McVie/Welshlatter tracks.btw, never seen the lovely McCartney song used in a mix. That'll take me to the Lake District as well!
Wyatt, Super Furries, Godz, Husker Du how could this not be wonderful?
Paul after YOKO??!! Get out of town! Seriously. BTW, is that the original album version of 'i wanna be your lover'?--much funkier than the single edit
Incredibly cool Rob. Television -> Prince is blasphemy . . . and I love it. The DJ Shadow through Magnetic Fields is a thing of beauty too with or without the extra 5 1/2 minutes of Yoko.
excellent
Looks great! You're on quite a Yoko kick, n'est-ce pas?
