My coworker could not understand how Indian film music could keep me warm all winter long. Here is my attempt to explain it to her.

At first I thought this was going to be some sort of Bollywood version of There's Something About Mary! I only recognize a few artists, but it looks like a decent primer.

Asha, Lata & Mohammed RULE! Unfortunately, I find the movies totally unwatchable . . . ;)

This mix looks really good!
I read that Kishore Kumar is an accomplished yodeler, but I never heard any of his recordings. Would you be able to point me to one of his yodeling songs? I'd love to include him in my upcoming "Joy of Yodeling, Vol. 2."

Oops, sorry for the wrong html code in my previous comment. I wanted a break, not bold fonts.

My mother is a huge fan of Bollywood soundtracks. I sort of grew up with it and have slowly started to accept. Anyway, you picked a lot of my favourites. Really cool mix.

I love, love, love Bollywood music and films... I have a 2 disc "best of" collection in my mix list -- it's all stull from the 1970's. This looks fantastic and I'd LOVE to hear it. :)

I just received Laura's two-disc collection, but have yet to listen to it. However, I'm sure that this looks great, as well.

Great music. The old stuff is cool but I've really been listening to a lot of the more recent techno influenced bollywood jams.

I love Salma & Sabina, but don't know any of the others by name though I may have heard them at the movies. Any chance I could trade you something for this?

erik, I'm listening to this over & over, & it just gets better every time as my ears get attuned to it. I see why you opened & closed with "Ina Mina Dika", it's just insanely catchy & no one could not love it on first hearing . . . but some of the other tunes here are fast
catching up to it in the "leave the theatre humming" category. This makes me realize there are proably whole worlds of Bollywood music I want to start exploring, maybe starting with this Mohammad Rafi chap, he's a blast. Thanks very much for this fun fun fun intro sampler, I think you've started something here!

great mix! I've been completely obsessed with bollywood for the last, I dunno, 9 months. would love to trade for this or trade some of my bollywood stuff with anyone else here who wants to hear more of this kind of stuff -- M. Rafi, Kishore, Lata and Asha are the all-time great playback singers, each with hundreds more songs as good as these. Well, maybe not as good as, say, #6 here, Pyar Diwana Hota Hai, but very few songs in any genre are.
