Comment:

1/01 Not so much a collection of what I listened to as a diary entry/recap of the sounds I got into for the first time in 2000. A lot of this stuff (ie B&S, Outkast, Drake) I picked up after seeing it on this site or hearing it via a mix I recieved in trade. (thanks everyone!) I probably could have squeezed PE and Devo onto this one as well.

For anyone who is unfamiliar, Dan the Automator worked the board on Dr Oct, Deltron & Handsome Boy, and I would not hesitate to reccomend anything he is affiliated with.

Im thinking of doing a similar mix for each of the last 5-6 years.

This is a good idea for a mix and a great mix. I have gotten hooked on a lot of bands the same way...i got into Automator a lot recently too..His A ^Much Better Place CD is worth picking up too even though it IS a rerelease of stuff from 1996.

I agree, this is a great idea for a mix. Glad to see anyone getting into the brilliance which is Automator. As for what I got into for the first time in 2000, I would have to include Catherine Wheel, At The Drive In, Sunny Day Real Estate, Trans Am, Yo La Tengo, PJ Harvey, Sigur Ros, Mission Of Burma, Bad Brains and Jurassic 5. Hell, I might just make one of these for myself. Mixes with personal significance are always my favorites.

Right on. Ive been meaning to check out more Automator, but haven run across much of it out there, and havent really gone out of my way to get it (yet). Supposedly his lable's website has a ton of stuff (CDs, singles, Wax, istrumentals, etc) for sale. Someone told me most of it is pretty cheap too.
