Comment:

I was trying to think of something slightly different to do for this month's mix. And since I'm reading my brother's copy of a collection of Lester Bangs' articles (hmmm...he's gonna see this, and I don't think he knows I have his book)...anyway, I was thinking of one of Bangs' lines in the movie ALMOST FAMOUS. He mentions how 'The Letter' by The Boxtops is less than 2 minutes, and that the song has no meaning. But he says the beauty of it, is that it takes them less than two minutes to accomplish what Jethro Tull takes hours to NOT accomplish. In the spirit of that bit of wisdom, here is a collection of songs- new and old, from many a genre -that say what they need to say in less than 3 minutes. So, any time you need something to pass the time while you're waiting for an egg to boil...pick one of these ditties and rock out. Cheers! -Famous.

It's funny because I just saw Almost Famous a few nights ago and that line by Lester stood out to me. I love it a most excellent mix> Great song choices but why not add the Boxtops song?

Fun. I enjoy both those great short songs & good jammin' in the long form (old Deadhead that I am). For your upcoming Vol. 2 (gotta do it): the Minutemen (they really took Lester's idea to heart! - the name reflected their usual song length & the revolutionary political fighters) and the Residents Commercial Album - about 40 or so one-minute songs.

Give me my book back!!!!!!!! (just kidding, most of the stuff in my room is free reign while I'm at school as long as it goes back where it belongs). Great idea for a mix, and although there are a couple I'm vehemently against (mostly just Alanis) there are some gems here, such as Tracks 22-26 and the D track.
good on ya.

Losing California is a bitchin' song!! Even though I'm a huge STP fan - Too Cool Queenie isn't one of my fav's - I probably would have take Vasoline or Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart which both clock in at 2:56. But I do like the idea of them doing a song about Kurt coming out of a Nirvana song! The Spencer Davis Group song is awesome! Did ya see my mix that had like 36 songs on it that I posted recently? There were some fun ones on that one too! Over all it's a nice mix there bud!

Awesome concept. I still don't see how you and CBlaze did this, when I'm "punk person" and still have trouble squeezing more than 21 songs on a CD! Ha, anyway, there are a lot of gems on here. The Green Day track cracks me up.

This is really cool, lots of great songs. I did a mix once in which every song is 2:17 long. It's Mix ID #21648 if you want to check it out.

Your mixability amazes me. I usually keep to the 10-15 track mark. I can't imagine trying to figure out a running order for 30 songs. Good on ya!

Lasting less than three minutes is a good thing...really.
