Comment:
For a mixies mix trade. All live in concert cuts, mostly from Chicago shows. All the Chicago shows were broadcast on WXRT at some point, and some were issued in limited quantities on a series of "On XRT" CDs. Most of the others were either imports (DeVille, Buzzcocks) or boots.(Elvis). The Blasters & the Talking Heads were from great regularly released albums - they were just such great cuts that I included them. More people should know about the Blasters! The Lou Reed is a favorite of my partner's - great horn work. The Replacements is from the free Grant Park 4th of July show at the end of which they broke up (the roadies ended up playing the last song!). The Patti Smith is from an incredible show at the Riviera Theater, first time she had been back in Chicago in 20+ years, and is guarranteed to get you jumpin' up & down. The cover is an attempt (I may try again later) at the sea of lighters you see at the end of big shows.Feedback:
This looks like a good live show .
I saw Lou at the Chicago Theater a couple years ago - and did you know who was sitting two seats in front of me? JIM FUCKING MORRISON's (keyboard player Ray Manzeriak). Lou put on an awesome show - too bad I had a 102 temp fever and most of the songs just kinda were a blur - I look forward to seeing him again - hopefully in the Chicago Theater (again) because that place is pretty sweet!
Oh, yeah! Great mix & XRT is awesome!
Nice collection. The Blasters are amazing live. I would have liked to have seen them again during their recent reunion tours.
I saw them (the Blasters) for one of their two nights at Fitzgeralds in Berwyn outside CHicago during the reunion tour & got to talk with them (although Phil took off pretty quick) afterwards. It was an amazing show. If anyone has any shows from that tour I would LOVE to get hold of a copy. There are the two CDs recorded right before the tour (that is where the song include here comes from - Trouble Bound) and at the very end of the tour with guests (also on DVD). Definitely worth checking out!
There never any "Live .. from Rockford,IL... " for good reason too! this looks excellent...
I saw the Blasters many moons ago with X in LA. (or was it subsequent nites? it's a blur now...)It was a sweat drenched nite and that part I remember well. Everyone should have them in their collections. a friend from Rockford (ahem) sent me the Patti Smith and it was great. Nice selections!
Very Cool idea...Los Lobos plays is a great live band and that song rips!
Nice.
