Comment:
The first installment of 3-4 60's mixes I'm in the process of putting together. This one goes primarily for the UK mid-60's sound, all exploding guitars bridging the gap between early R&B/Mod sounds and psychedelia (with a few tracks leaning a bit in the psychedelic direction). Freakbeat & the like, if you wish. Stay tuned for a mellower, less garage-y UK/US trippy psychedelic mix and a veddy British whimsical mix in the days ahead...Feedback:
1 to 26 superb.Love the art also.
really great stuff, Marc. I love all of these classic tracks from my favourite era.
Terriffic stuff. "I Can Hear The Grass Grow" just missed the cut of a recent mix I made.
Can't wait to see the rest of the series!
Very nice. I love that Smoke track.
I love all this stuff.
This is all great, for sure. As you probably know, Lally & I did a collaborative mix a couple of years ago along these lines, "People have their uses: Into the Mouth of Modness." I'd be interested in comparing notes with you and look forward to the rest of the volumes in this series.
I'd forgotten about Rob & Sean's mod mix. Theirs is actually much better, though I was focusing on a narrower sound here. As I went through my Nuggets II box and various other collections, I was looking for a consistency of tempo and guitar timbre (though obviously this has some wide variations nonetheless) rather than a far-reaching exploration of an era. For the latter, people should definitely look at their Mod mix.
Just so you know, Marc, I wasn't attempting to malign the quality of your mix, Marc--this kicks ass and features songs that are all favorites--or say that one was "better", etc., but thanks for the sentiment. :-)
Not my read at all, Rob. I've never known you to malign a mix, and that was the farthest thing from my mind. I'm always in favor of cross referencing a similarly-motivated mix, as those of us who are obsessive about this sort of thing (i.e. you, me, and about a dozen others) get a kick out of seeing how different people attack a comparable concept.
great looking forward to see the rest
Nice picks.
Nice! Mix! Here! I never get tired of this stuff.
Awesome mix, Marc. A lot of great classics.
lots of goodies in this mix. I like it
Looks good, sounds better!
looks great! I love the weird psychedelic ones like "white bicycle" and of course "I can hear the grass grow" as well as some great picks from the kinks and the stones.
ALL GREAT!
tremendous stuff..I did a similar mix called Pickles!
Great stuff. Those Action trax are unfamiliar to me, tho.
Every one a winner. Fab. Gear. Groovy.
This mix is a knockout! (can't believe no one has used that one yet). Yes that 1 through 26 stretch looks excellent. Looking forward to the others. Could a trade be in our future?
I was just thinking something more along the lines of "to die for" but maybe that's a little extreme. Excellent at any rate.
Wowie zowie! I'm lovin' this, Marc!
Oh baby baby baby. This sends me all sorts of places. Woo!
Biff band WOW!!! Great stuff. This is my favorite era for many of these bands. That monster Creation riff is a great way to start a mix. Extra love on the Kinks (Love You...) and Yardbirds (Tinker Tailor...) picks.
