Comment:

Some might think it's a sin because the Pet Shop Boys are here. A band a lot of people love to hate but they had the hooks, they had the beat and they made lot's of money.
The "modern music" alternative came at us in WNY from across the lake in Toronto in the 80s. CFNY played a lot of interesting stuff back then and because of Canadian content requirements they played bands that didn't get exposure in the US. A lot of this I had in my sound booth and on this mix I tried to use the 12" extended singles where I could which is what I was spinning at the time. Yaz, Fad Gadget, Strange Advance, Visage, etc. had big hits there and this mix has a really strange familiar sound to it some twenty years later. In fact this mix is a snapshot of that time and place.
Fad Gadget on the cover.

Looks interesting. That is indeed a fantastic Talking Heads pick/album. Plus the Echo track is great and the New Order track is classic. I have to admit that I've never given many of these bands much of a listen, so it would be unfair for me to criticize them or praise them.

Good looking mix George! BTW/The Pet Shop Boys are still (to the last of my knowledge) at it although it's a bit more on the club side than before. (kind of like Boy George spinning in clubs now)

I have no shame about my fancy for the Pet Shop Boys -- I even like their more recent stuff! I think this looks great!

I don't love or hate the Pet Shop Boys, but I just don't "get" them. Not a big fan of music theater I guess (Alice Cooper excepted). As for teh rest, I'm back at the bar with you.

A mix after my own heart. Love the Visage; nice pick from Gang of 4. No idea who Strange Advance is but judging from the other tracks here I imagine I just might like them.

Wow, George, this looks great. Although this is not one of my favorite eras of music, you managed to pick a lot of truly choice cuts. Nice job!

I've never thought there was any shame in digging the PSB - even for a guitar guy like myself. And the Fad Gadget song is one of faves froms that era.
