Comment:

My January 2005 contribution to the New York CD Mix of the Month Club. Being a science fiction writer, I had wanted to do an SF-themed mix for a long time. Maybe if I had spent more time on it, there would have been a lower percentage of somewhat silly songs, but nevertheless this was a heartfelt mix, maybe my most heartfelt since making mix tapes for girls in high school. The music is interspersed with snippets of a radio interview I did in 2002 on Jim Freund's "Hour of the Wolf" program on WBAI 99.5 FM in New York City. (Oh, and this is really a single-CD mix, but I couldn't figure out how to post more than 30 tracks that way.)  [album art full size]

I've been fascinated with the lyrics to "Memory Machine" for years - great choice. Awesome album cover art, as well.

I must say the inclusion of Rush, Queen and Alan Parsons (the blissful days of youth?) is pushing it a bit . . . but the rest looks sho' looks cool to me. Can't go wrong with Don, Marc & Ade anyway. ;)

Hey, Mohr, if I were in the habit of apologizing for my tastes in popular art, I'd never have become a science fiction writer! ;-)
