Comment:
Third and final installment of my recent run through the mid/late '60's discs in my collection (though I have a lot of tracks I ended up cutting from these mixes that I'll probably throw onto a fourth disc of '60's leftovers). This one, needless to say, goes for the strictly psychedelic grooves, with an emphasis on the trippier, more melodic and headphone-friendly end of the spectrum. A few obvious tracks, but hopefully a few surprises, both silly and sublime. I was tempted to just borrow a buncha tracks from the assorted psychedelic mixes Gerry has shared with me over the years, but then... well, then I'd just have ended up with a Gerry McDonald mix (if a less cool one). But I did borrow one song from a Gerry disc, so, thanks Gerry. And thanks to Rob Conroy for the Bee Gees track (as he's one of the few to publicly acknowledge that their first album was pretty damn nifty). Hey, am I the first person to notice that the chorus of the Bee Gees' truly mind-blowing (no, seriously) "Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You" was ripped off wholesale for the Clique's "Superman" (later popularized by R.E.M.)? Just wondering. And I'm glad to finally have a use for my copy of Zodiac's Cosmic Sounds, the most horrifyingly bad (yet therefore wonderful) cd ever recorded. And now that I've delivered my 3 promised 60's mixes, what am I going to do?I'm going to Disney World. Er, actually, I am. My kids' spring break. But at least I've got some tunes to bring with me (and if I can just convince my wife to let me bring my iPod onto "It's A Small World," all will be cool...

another nice one, personal favs here are 4,11,15,19,21
All that p the swede said & more
Status Quo or robotic children singing It's A Small World After All in 18 different languages? For me it's a tough decision, but it appears you already have your mind made up. I'd save this one to play during the Country Bear Jamboree, because those grizzlies are talentless hacks who don't deserve to be there. Anyway I'm sure this sounds excellent wherever it's played, even in the Magic Kingdom.
Very cool. I always like seeing the Chocolate Watchband on a mix.
I'm trippin' out over this groovy mix.
Nice.
Super cool mix, Marc. Very great picks by Zombies, Bee Gees, Pink Floyd, The Moon, and more!
Really great stuff, Marc. This is right up my alley these days. Good stuff.
Very nice, Marc. Great choice of a closer.
Excellent picks! This is perfect for the Disney World Co. experience - GENIUS! I agree with your Bee Gee assessment.
Great stuff. I love it all. And in such a nice package.
Okay, get the kids juiced up on junk food and rollercoasters, then play em this...
This is my type of mix. Loving the psychedelia here.
wonderful stuff, Marc. All classic tracks. You're most welcome for the tracks and many thanks for the nice comments!
oh yeah!!!!!!!
Another nice one. Love all this stuff.
KDVS in Davis is at 90.3, but the furthest west it can get is Fairfield. You can, however, listen online at kdvs.org, which I highly encourage you to do.
