Comment:
this one is for IOn-moe, inspired by his 60's mixes.... a few nuggets here i hope..the puzzle..how many jimmy webb songs are in this mix? including his first group he sang with...and what group on this list played monterey pop music festival and bombed due to their bass player being buzzed? they never made it to the film.Feedback:
Great mix. There are six Jimmy Webb songs here: "I thought I had time", "Strawberry Children", "Love Years Coming", "Man of the World", "Clowns Exit Laughing", and "Old Man At The Fair". Do I get a prize?
you got four of them orchid!!!!...(i think there are only four)..strawberry children is webb's first group..i am jimmy webb nut from the get go.thanks for feedback
Make that five, as "Strawberry Children" was not a Jimmy Webb song, but a Jimmy Webb band. By the way, do you have his 1977 album "El Mirage"? I'm dying to hear it.
you people continue to amaze me with your musical knowledge. i only know a few of the artists on this mix (small faces, the cyrkle, rolling stones) and yet i think i'd probably would like it, being a connosieur of the more contemporary effluvia as it were...
Papa B. I think it's time for you to post your first mix! I'm curious about this "contemporary effluvia" you speak of....
Woopeee!! A mix for me? This in addition to all the other stuff you're sending me?! Anyway, this all looks amazing, judging by a few of the songs I know. You got me stumped on your Monterey Pop question. I know that the Grateful Dead didn't make the movie, but they're not on the mix. I'm sure there was more than one buzzed bass player performing at the festival. And Orchid, I think it's time you post your next mix! We're getting impatient!
Very cool mix.
super fly.
thanks for comments.this was a fun one because i had to scour the deep recesses of my c.d.s for some of this stuff.the four webb songs are mark lindsay.fortunes.rex harrison ( a very quirky song and reading) and the strawberry children..The canadian group , the paupers, were on their way to stardom from what i have read.Huge in nyc village scene and canada and then they had a rough time at monterey..
Terrific lookin' mix!
Great lookin' mix. Curious about the Gouldman - I know he wrote the excellent "No Milk Today" that was a hit for HH, but when did he himself record it?
Sweet mix...where can I pick up some other Cyrkle stuff...it seems tough to get a hold of anything they've done.
update.. i got cyrkle on a compilation though i think sundazed.com has re-released all of their solo lp's on c.d...quirky band. and the graham gouldman is from his mid 60's solo album that a friend burned for me...cool stuff. very 60's .very fresh..i will include more of his on other mixes.i am always up for trading .especially for sounds of the 60's and european stuff.
So what's the answer to the Monterey Pop question Mr. Trebek?
Beautiful bluecats50, and made for a great guy! So many great tracks, too too numerous to mentions-let's just say all of 'em, ok?
Cheers bluecats! Best wishes, forever!
