Very neat Byrds pick... an underrated tune, for sure. That's my favorite Elton song, although I'm not much of an Elton fan. I love the Dylan, Stones, T. Newman, Rundgren, Neil, CSNY, Zep and Smokey tracks (although the only ones I'm not sick of are the T. Newman and Stones songs), and I don't mind that Who song, despite it being from the point in their career that I start to dislike them. Although the Beatles are my favorite band, I've got to admit that "The Night Before" is one of my least favorite Lennon-McCartney originals. And if I hear "American Pie" again, I'm going to go ballistic. :-)
Feel your sentiments for the most part...though I'm not sure, I think the Who was great all the way through Quadrophenia.
Great series, play on...
