Comment:
This doesn't fit on a cd, unfortunately. The Anderson track is just shy of a half hour and the Braxton Roach duet is 35 minutes. If anyone wants a copy, I'll do some editing on those 2 tracks. This was the next step after the sax/bass/drums mixes, I think I am working up to the solo saxophone mix. Listening to this stuff makes me wonder how I ever listen to quartets, let alone bands with 14 or 18 or 31 pieces. Plenty to pay attention to, plenty to hear unfold. Did I overlook any obvious entries? Classic saxophone drum duets from the past? The future?Feedback:
Looks interesting Nick!
Great picks Nick (and don't you dare edit them ;-). I've always loved the Don Cherry/Ed Blackwell LP "El Corazon." 'Course that's another kinda horn altogether.
brother, this one's a mother. send it to me, will you?
Oh, I misread the title. I thought it was sex/drums. But this is still excellent. Who is Rashied Ali? He sounds very intriguing.
That opener is one of the most unbelievable listening experiences of all-time.
I love that Coltrane album. Not released till well after he was dead.A bonus track on the rerelease of Chick Corea's "Three Quartets" is "Confirmation," a duet with Michael Brecker on saxophone and, yes, Chick Corea on drums.
Oh, and on Joe Henderson's "Lush Life," there's a duet of "Take the 'A' Train" with Gregory Hutchinson on drums.
Great lookin' mix Nick!
God, what's wrong with me? I left out the Jimmy Lyons - Andrew Cyrille duets.
