Comment:
Guitarsnob Guidebook volume 4 - a return to the series I started a while back. This features some of my favorite moments in lightning-fast country guitar playing. Lately, I've been trying to emulate some of these cats ... I said "trying". You haven't heard gee-tar until you hear Jimmy Bryant, Joe Maphis or Chet Atkins ... or just about any of these guys. The original version of this mix had a few more tracks featuring similarly amazing playing - in this case, I think that less is more. It can be a little tiresome on the ears, no matter how brilliant the playing is. So here you go - grab your double-neck Mosrite and get pickin!Feedback:
Great stuff Sean. Love the Maphis/Collins -> Atkins -> Bryant/West bit especially. Work them blisters boy!
great mix all around!
mr lally, a pleasure as always.
Good stuff. Gotta love the "Guitar Gods".
Plenty of great pickin' here on this cool mix.
I love it!
Great stuff!
I agree, some of this is best in small doses, but what pleasures these all are. Love to trade for this if you're interested, but no less of a good mix if you're not. ; )
what they all said and BTW congrats once again
Great lookin' mix Sean!
Glad to see Junior Brown amongst all the royalty of twang.
Killer diller! My fingers are starting to bleed just reading the playlist! This mix reminds me of Thumbs Carlisle's "Springfield Guitar Social" where he imitates the styles of Chet, Speedy, Jimmy, Les Paul, Grady Martin & others. Hits them dead on! He played his guitar on his lap like a steel, but he didn't use a slide -- he just fretted overhanded.
Mighty nice pickin' & pickin'
This looks really good! I'd love to trade. Please let me know if there is one of mixes that you're interested in.
An outstanding addition to the smart set Guidebook series!
Super cool. Please count me in for your entire guitar series when we finally get around to exchanging some discs...
very good Sean!!!! who says "speed kills??????"
This is great Sean!
Wow, as Valis said outstanding!
Quite supern, Sean. Fatherhood seems to have re-ignited your mixmaking fire, my friend! I love the opener and the sublime Byrds pick especially.
superb, I mean!
How did I miss this! Sean it's killah! I especially love the steel & (uh, not a musician, so whatever the strings of non-steel guitars are made of) guitar that folks like Junior Brown adn Dave & Deke use.
Nice title, nice music- sweet.
Brilliant stuff.
