Comment:
A much-delayed, long-since-requested mix for Peter--my summation of Wyatt-era Soft Machine (the only era that really interests me). This past weekend, I finally got a hold of the fourth album and re-purchased the third album. Really fantastically complex yet (at least initially) whimsical British psych. And not only is Robert Wyatt one of the greatest vocalists of all-time, but listening to this mix reminded me how much the drumming world lost when he fell from that balcony in 1973.Feedback:
well thanks, looking forward to hear it,
I can only agree with everything you say (except my interest in the Softs maintained until Hugh Hopper quit). First-class selection. As a purist, I'd suggest the Top Gear Session version of Moon In June over the the one from Third, but that's just me nit-picking.
Haven't heard of these..But i will be checking them out!
Can't quibble with these selections at all Rob & you're so right re his drumming.
LOVE it.
I'm getting into this band, and robert wyatt right now. good mix
Cool tribute, but the still hasn't grown on me that much. Not sure why. It seems as though I would like them, and yet they leave me a little cold. Maybe I should re-examine them.
I must admit, I feel the same as Sean in respect of the soft machine, but I shall re-examine them.
Geez, I haven't heard any of this stuff. They're one of those bands that have slipped under my radar all these years, as I only know one song by these softies.
