Comment:

The treatment the soundtrack deserved -- not that score-only CD. Folks in the UK can now buy something similar to this, but when I made it two years ago, it was high times on campus for me.

Although the music, score and dialogue more or less follow their appearance in the film, there are few peculiarities about this mix. I chose to repeat "The Tangent Universe" for sequencing purposes, which might seem crazy if it didn't work so well. I see it as similar to the approach used on the "Requiem For A Dream" soundtrack.

I happened to have a gorgeous recording of The Church doing an acoustic rendition of "Under The Milky Way Tonight," and it sounded even more natural following Joy Division than the studio version did, so that's why it's on here. Purists, please do not judge until you've compared the two versions.

i love mixes that incorperate dialogue, and this seems like it does so very organically. is that acoustic version of "under the milkyway" off the steve kilbey "acoustic & intimate" cd?

I don't believe it is; it sounds like a different version to me. I got the song from a friend who got it from a file-sharing site, so I haven't managed to pin down its point of origin. It resembles an in-studio performance, but the sound quality is excellent, so I don't know how probable that is.

This is just way too cool! I tried to make my own version a while back, its ok. I tried to duplicate the sound of the movie or the feel I guess, but I didnt have enough of the songs really. I just listened to it the other day actually. But your mix looks really great.
