Comment:
Fufu to go, yoTrack notes for non-experts (myself included):
1. from Spain- the never released album by the Fatorusso Brothers, Ruben Rada, and Airto Moreira. Bits and parts of Bossa Nova, Free Jazz, Candombe, NYC Funk and the White Album. 2. In 1975, Phil Pearlman unleashed this privately pressed rural/psych rock gem. All California sunsets and country living clean, you can feel the wind in this album.
6. Folk masterpiece from 1972.
7. Already legendary in Japan; he's flourished for over two decades as an elusive, yet central figure in a complex music underground. 'Psychedelic guitar genius' barely begins to describe his music... a recent new discovery for me
8. French trio from the 1980s. Cross between Young Marble Giants and Sade. 9. Lansing-Dreiden = the intensity of early Joy Division + the grit of a 60's garage band + vocals which suggest they are part of some ancient religious cult. 15. Brazilian obscurity combining traditional South American instrumentation with jazzy interludes, extended freak-outs and unearthly chanting.
16. 1974 debut, a landmark album in his native Turkey. In the tradition of Fairport Convention, Dando Shaft, Nick Drake, etc.
17. Spanish prog classic written by pianist Tomas San Miguel.
Feedback:
Wonderful!
Cool, esp 2&6.
How is the Caetano album? Isn't that his first, and considered to be somewhat of a classic? Check out my Brasil.
Most loverly, indeed.
WOW! I know little here but it looks fascinating. I'd love to hear Kid Creole's take on "Lili Marlene."
Looks great, Lucie. Especially Chris Smither & Caetano, and some of those 'unknowns' sound most intriguing.
All I know is the Duncan Browne song, which is lovely, and I'm familiar enough with that era of Zappa to know that it doesn't much interest me. However, some of those OTHER folks (based upon your description) sound like must-hears and I'm sure that this mix works with the same level of artistry that your other mixes work...
I'm always intrigued my mixes that contain music that is totally out of my comfort zone -- this looks facinating.
Almost all unknown to me but history shows your tastes are nothing if not trustworthy Lucie. I'd like to trade for this. Anything of mine you're particularly interested in?
Love this mix, Lucie, wspecially the international selections.
Amazing, would love to hear it. Trade?
boy, this one sounds interesting! let me know if you're ever up for a trade
