Comment:

My student Dan loves Tom Waits, but otherwise listens mostly to hip hop, so I made him this mix of artists who influenced or were influenced by Waits. Thanks to my fellow mixers for many excellent suggestions, and to Jenergy for the Ken Nordine track. I received so many great suggestions that this may expand into a two disc set at some point. In the meantime, you can read the complete liner notes here. (Corrections welcome!)

What good choices! it adds something to each of these to think of them all in relation to the Tom Waits nexus, & then it
expands my view of TW too.

Wonderful! Through the track list and liner notes, I feel I know a lot more about what makes Tom tick. Someday I'd like a copy. Cool web page too!

I must admit I'm not a big Tom Waits fan, but I like the groove on this mix.

Ramblin' Jack Elliot might be another one you'd like to include on a part 2. Cool mix.
