"If you will suck my soul, I will lick your funky emotions."
Comment:
Finally. I've been attempting to get this together for awhile, ostensibly as an overview of/tribute to the guitar god Eddie Hazel's tenure with Mr. Clinton & Co. I originally intended the mix to cover all of Hazel's recordings with the P-Funk axis, but instead settled on highlighting his time with the "original"/"classic" line-up (I put those phrases in quotes because, after plenty o' research, I can't ascertain whether or not Bernie Worrell--who is so key to the band's sound--is on the first Funkadelic album). Another mix featuring the mid-'70s period may follow at some point and, if so, it will certainly feature tracks from his underrated solo album, "Games, Dames & Guitar Thangs." Thanks to Jana, who was kind enough to provide me with a copy of Osmium (which I, in turn, loved enough to purchase as a result). Last track cut: "Friday Night, August 14th."Feedback:

Another band I need to be better aquainted with. I love "Can You Get to That" and most of what I've heard from Maggot Brain... Very well thought out mix...
Both Groovy & Funky indeed!
Cool!
Cool. Maggot Brain alone is worth the price of admission.
Fantastic!
Turn this mother out! Absolute classic picks Rob. BTW, Bernie didn't join until Free Your Mind.. Check out that Cecil Taylor-esque banging on Funky Dollar Bill.
nasty good stuff, conroy. "play like yo' mama just died." that dude was a serious badass. shame he wasn't on more recordings. at least gary shider was no lightweight either. and i will say though that even though eddie isn't on it, cosmic slop may be one of my favorite albums... i'd love to have laid the bass or drums down on that title track. shit, and talk about a band whose catalog is in dire need of the remastering/deluxe reissue treatment.
Wonderful stuff, Rob. Every pick is a gem!
shake it baby, shake it
Awesome classics.
nice!
Funky cold medina!
Rob Conroy brings us the heavy funk. I knew this day would come. Fine mix. Especially dig Funky Dollar Bill.
This looks fantastic. Any chance I could coax a copy of it out of you?
