Comment:

I finally, finally just checked out the classic period of this band after years of reading great stuff about them and knowing only "Cool Places" (their early '80s duet with Jane Wiedlin). I've just gotten these three albums--Kimono My House, Propaganda and Indiscreet--within the past four days and can't stop listening to them, hence this mix. If anyone has the first two Sparks albums available for CD burning, PLEASE contact me--I'd love to trade for them.

The early period of this band is one I am quite fond of. Kimono My House is one of my favorite records from the whole artsy-glam era. I fuckin' love the bass riff in Talent Is An Asset. I can't say I am very fond of much of the bands work when they returned back to the USA, but this period is vastly underappreciated. Good Choices. I'll digitize the 1st LP for ya.

Looks cool -- Morrissey is a big fan - which I admit is reason enough for me to want to know more of their music. :)

Rob, I've got *both* of the first two albums on CD. They were released as a twofer import, but I don't know if it's available anymore. Anyway, yeah, I'd be glad to do a trade. Zip me an email. I also have "Big Beat" on vinyl, if you're interested.

Great band, great compilation! I went through a period of non-stop sparks listening after I got one of their greatest hits tapes a couple years back. (and now I've got an assortment of riffs from the songs on here running through my head.) It's too bad they're mainly remembered for "cool places," which is probably my least favorite sparks song. Check out their disco stuff too -- number one song in heaven, beat the clock.

lemme know if you want to trade -- there's stuff on here I don't have!

nice - went through a big sparks phase in high school, then lost interest. i was recently reawakened to their greatness via the boss 3-disc set posted here a few months ago.

Looks like a great compilation! I do hope you can eventually stop listening to them, though. At least to eat and go to the bathroom... ;-)

what the.. is that all of kimono my house? well, yeah.. a sparks best of would constitute at least 85% of everything they released/recorded between 69 and 75. ya need the first two albums and the demos in there dooood!

i'm beating myself up lately for not being able to carry the tune of don't leave me alone with her without it playing next to me. its distressing to be so boggled.
