Comment:

In its early days, Traffic was run along cooperative lines: the band's four members shared a cottage in rural England, in which 1967 debut [i]Mr. Fantasy[/i] was hatched — it's an arty, eclectic curiosity (compare the carnivalesque "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush" to the wild and trippy "Coloured Rain") that ultimately proved that life in an ego-scarred rock commune was bound to produce tension. Guitarist/sitarist Dave Mason quit the lineup shortly before the album was released, only to rejoin for 1968's self-titled follow-up (featuring "Don't Be Sad").
