Comment:

Traffic delivered prog to the progs, folk to the folkies, psychedelia to the space cadets, and pop to the hook-lovers (notably on "Hole in My Shoe"). And they were criminally underrated as a force in rock. Steve Winwood had just come off a stint in the Spencer Davis Group, and surrounded himself with Dave Mason, Chris Wood, and Jim Capaldi to produce an outfit set apart by its imaginative use of organ, woodwind, and flute. John Barleycorn Must Die prefigured Jethro Tull — check out that flute — while The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys set the stage for jam bands yet unborn. This, friends, is mandatory listening.
