Tape Hiss is Like a Drug
Comment:
Recording quality can go take a running jump for all I care. This mix is indiepop/twee, lo-fi and antifolk, for those who were wondering.Feedback:
Ah...good ole' tape hiss...once the drug of choice. Now, I occasionally dub or shorten a track onto cassette before burning it to CD-R.
Totally. I do that to all my stuff.
Cool mix. Nice to see the rare appearance of Go Sailor. Personally, I'd have a hard time doing a tape-hissy mix without some Guided by Voices (circa 93-95) or Sebadoh, but those might be out of place stylistically here. Incidentally, for anyone who uses cassettes to shorten tracks, there is plenty of easy-to-use software out there to do it on the computer (I personally use cdwav, a great, easy program).
Firstly, GBV has grated my nerves ever since I saw Bob Pollard's drunken narcissitic ramblings onstage and Sebadoh just never did anything for me. And like you noted, stylistically, I prefer the more childlike lo-fi a la Daniel Johnston, Jad Fair, Beat Happening, etc.
Oh don't have a hiss-y fit! ;) Lots of good thing here. Shut off the dolby noise reduction and let it roll.
