Comment:

The Taylor track is sort of long, the rest are under 15 minutes....lots of credit due to Atavistic/Unheard Music for reissuing Pakistani Pomade. I'm not the kind of guy with $200 for out of print lps. The 1 -> 2 move is supposed to clear up any "misunderstandings" regarding Shipp's position as a 'Taylor stylist' as some would have it. There's a Cooper Moore solo record where he speaks about the same sort of "misunderstandings" that people had regarding Taylor's influence on Cooper Moore. He says that he didn't hear 'Love for Sale' until he was 20 and that Jaki Byard was a more important early influence. Shipp has also mentioned Byard as one of the players he paid attention to......What does this mean? I think it's time for a Jaki Byard focus show.
