Comment:
80 minutes from a band who began its career with three fantastic releases--First Issue, Metal Box/Second Edition, and Flowers of Romance--only to abandon the spirit of experimentation that made those early albums so great. With that in mind, I focused only on the first three records and their attendant singles when compiling this mix. I don't actually dislike any PiL stuff that I've heard, but the early records are undoubtedly the most interesting.Feedback:
yes you are totally right, the 3 first ones are killing stuff
another good idea for a single arists mix, Rob.
cool selections.
Not a big fan but you picked out pretty much all of there songs I dig... so nice mix.
I'm with Gerry and Salman 1 on this.
I too agree about the first three albums and this covers them well.
I still think "Public Image" is the best thing he's ever done (post-pistols). But, alas, I'm less a fan of the remainder of the first three albums. I include them on the long list of albums I feel the need to own and occasionally listen to, just to maintain my indie cred, but can't say I really enjoy. (See also, e.g., Pere Ubu, Mission of Burma, Gang of Four.) There were a couple catchy tracks on Album which I liked at the time, but I'd be lying if I said I've listened to it in the last 10 years.
