KITT 2000: Daughter of Frankenstein
Comment:
Total time - 1:19:58 Woo!1) A Beatlesque song
2) A song with handclaps
3) A song with "sun" in the title
4) An instrumental
5) A cover you liked better than the original
6) An old song you heard for the first time this year
7) A song that reminds you of your first relationship
8) A 7th song
9) Best song from your favourite band's worst album
10) A song from a place where English is not the first language
11) Song with your name in the title
12) Song title is a question
13) A b-side
14) A live version better than a studio version
15) Song from the year you graduated high school
16) Favourite song from a genre you don't like
17) A sexy song
18) Favourite TV theme song

UNECESSARY, TEDIOUS EXPANSION:
a) I realize that "Kitt 2000" is redundant, but it sounds cooler. And I didn't have a
crush on the car so much as its personality. I can't explain it and I make no
apologies; it's not half as embarrassing as admitting to a crush on Hasselhoff.
b) Because I wanted a challenge, I didn't change the song order. This has created
a few awkward transitions, but I think for the most part, it's okay. I haven't put this
much thought into a mix for quite some time.
3) "The Sun King" - best song about Louis XIV ever
5) I think I prefer most McCartney covers to the original. It's the sheer zest in which
the Finns attack this song that make it so great. And the rhythm piano. The world
needs more rhythm piano.
6) Does 1971 count as old? Actually, the only thing that makes this song sound old
is the production. Jangly AM pop never really goes out of style. (Does it?)
8) Discovered too late that putting the Beatlesque track at the beginning screws up
the seventh 7th song. This was the one I spent the longest on. There are a lot of
terrible 7th songs out there. After scouring my dusty archives, I found this, my
favourite song about desperate cross-dressing. (Sample: "I cross myself and do
my best acid queen/A cross between a dime-store witch and a whirling, painted
Martin Sheen.")
9) I wouldn't say worst album, but definitely worst sounding album. The production
is very tinny. I went with my favourite song off the album, which might not have been
the best choice, mix-wise.
10) From http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=46293
The Polish Britpop song.
13) B-side of "El Scorcho"
14) From quiet, keyboards-only children's album track to rollicking rock effort,
complete with Flansburgh performing some funky jams on a voice distorter.
15) Capturing the early grunge era X a band I became obsessed with in 12th
grade.
16) I hate (modern) R&B with a passion, as it often eludes what I look for in music: a
little cleverness and a lot of sincerity. But I've always liked this song. The harmonies
rock.
18) Theme from House (full version). I think my all-time favourite theme is
"Having An Average Weekend" by Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet (Kids in the Hall theme), but this fits
better, mix-wise
19) Bought last week. So awesome. Buy it now.
20) From http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=43949
Sweet, salty goodness.
21) :41
22) November '04. Can't remember the first concert I paid for.
Feedback:
This is great! A labor of love. The kindergarteners I teach love "robot parade," especially because the robots obey what the children say.
looks good, but not too familiar. I thought about not changing the order, but i didn't see that in the rules anywhere. great job.
