Waitin' for a train to the astral plane
Comment:
80 minutes of the recently-rediscovered (courtesy of Rhino Handmade) early '70s chanteuse, compiled by request of both Jana and Moe (this one's for them!). Lovely, heartbreaking stuff all around. Although I pretty much prefer all of her available demos and live versions of these songs (I'm just a sucker for singer-songwriters who record with only a guitar or piano, I guess), if at all justifiable (i.e., the two versions were close in quality), I included the actual, studio versions of the songs.Feedback:
Wonderful collection. I had a friend who had one of her ablums back the early 70s. Played the heck out of it all the time along with Joy Of Cooking. I always associate those two albums together. Anyway, I recently picked up the Rhino reissues so it was really cool to hear this music again after a 30 year lapse. Nice one Rob.
Been reading plenty about Miss Sill lately.I'd love to hear this.;-)
yep - great collection. i love her stuff.
I know her name but I only know Track 5 courtesy of a single I picked up from a Charity Store! I must try & pick up the Rhinos.
I'm sure i heard some song here if they are from the 70's, but just dont remember the name.
Rob, you are the master of the musical monograph.
I love this collection. Great job, Rob.
I've heard her name but now you've inspired me to find/listen to her music!
You're "still" the one, Rob. Looking forward to hearing this. Amazing that someone who led such a tragic life produced such beautiful songs. I'll e-mail you soon about our impending trade.
Another nice mix, Rob. I love "The Kiss" which is hauntingly beautiful. Have you decided what you would like from me yet?
Very nice Rob.
looks nice, but dont know all stuff...
I don't know how one could listen without stopping, completely stilling themselves. Her voice is a home of feeling. I like your mix of Sill.

Thanks for sharing this with me, Rob. Fantastic introduction to a great (and woefully underappreciated) talent. Though it made me like Liz Phair a little less discovering that her voice wasn't as unique and innovative as I'd thought before hearing this.
