Inspired by Simon Reynolds excellent new history of the post-punk era "Rip It Up And Start Again". There was one glaring omission from the book though -no mention of the Recommended Records / Rock In Oposition axis: source of some of the most compelling music of the period. I've tried in a small way to put that right with the Bears / Work / Amos / Vogel / Goebbels / Sir Alec picks.Feedback:
I'm reading that book right now and it is indeed fantastic. I'm also happy to say that this mix looks appropriately so, as well. Could you please place this in the proposed pile that we've been intermittently discussing? I'll send you an e-mail to iron things out soon.
Read the book last month.Oh the memories.Am really pleased to see People In Control and Sir Alec in there.Must investigate The Work,Amos and Heiner Goebbels.Suffice to say I could praise this selection for so many reasons.
Looks good though I have no idea who Recommended Records are.
