Comment:

Chapters 9-16. Again some bands are missing due to the inevitable holes in my collection. I would like to apologise to U.S. Mixers re: Chapter 13 which is titled Freak Scene and details The Residents, Tuxedomoon, Factrix, Chrome, The Sleepers & Flipper. My collection contains none of these artists and apart from The Residents & Tuxedomoon, I did not know of their existence until I began this book. The B52's and other US Bands which I do have, appear later on in the book
I would also like to add that for my Antipodean Cousins (and yes I do have Australian blood) there is little in this book to satisfy you, however, there is a marvellous book entitled Stranded by Clinton Walker which deals with Australian Independent Music 1977-91 and I'm tempted to give it a try!
Enjoy

CHAPTER 9 Living For The Future (1,2)
CHAPTER 10 Just Step Sideways (3-6)
CHAPTER 11 Messthetics (7-11) (Side 2: 1,2)
CHAPTER 12 Industrial Devolution (3-4)
CHAPTER 14 Careering (5)
CHAPTER 15 Ghost Dance (6-10)
CHAPTER 16 Sex Gang Children (11-12)

Good choice of Dexys track for this - perhaps the finest example of Celtic Punk-soul ever recorded!

Very nice series. But I think you've got to investigate The Residents; knowing your musical history, you would be fascinated (at least) with Third Reich 'n' Roll. Then maybe Eskimo....

Another volume that can't be beat. The S.F. scene sure had some wild mutant bands that you should definitely check out. Try to find a copy of Live at the Deaf Club for a starter.
