Comment:
Shhhhhhh! This one's Q-u-i-e-t : Composed of mp3 & .wav files, -silence- mixes straight-classical, ambient-classical and avant-garde-classical. Over a month in the making; cellos, violins, and bent atmospheres create a singular, intoxicating soundscape. The primary protagonist here is violinist Gidon Kremer, (utilizing some cool prepared piano as a backdrop to his fiddle), and his Kremerata Baltica ensemble interpreting (many for the first time) works by Philip Glass, Arvo Part and Vladimir Martykov. Mixed in with some 20th century composer mp3 files downloaded off www.epitonic.com. and a track off the new Photek album [which mixes in beautifully].....Cutting Edge Classical via Computer.
Feedback:
Wow - a complete change for your normal mixes. This is a wonderful piece of work!
This is a great mix. I like the use of 20th century composers. I keep intending on doing a mix dedicated to the likes. Sort of a from Ravel and Sibelius to Xenakis & Stockhausen and folks in between. Its still in the back of my mind. Mixes like this inspire me. Keep it up.
Thank you. I came across a quote from John Cage, which is now printed inside this mix's j-card:
"There is no such thing as an empty space or an empty time. There is always something to see, something to hear. In fact, try as we may to make a silence, we cannot"

How can I get a copy of this? It sounds delightful!!!
This is extremely cool and interesting. It's really nice to see these artists on AOTM.

Yes I'm new to the site. I just down loaded a mp3 mixer and I'm playing
with it know so I decided to check out some sites to listen to to get a
few ideas. I'll send the tape and thank you for being a sport.
Thank you again
