Comment:

Okay, here goes nothing, the Also-Rans for June 2005! Let's have at 'em! The Toms start things off with the perfect summer song that will be stuck in your head for quite a while, and even if it doesn't, it'll still put you in a good mood. The Plain White T's who I saw live a while back, but have not hit me until now bring a nice catchy song called "Take Me Away" to the table, and the Afters and Adam Richman both turn in some nice tracks as well. Johnny Boy adds "that one song" that has played in the background of a MTV advert, that's actually quite funny. And Pitty Sing has a very Morrissey sounding song called "Radio", and the Pictures bring down the house with their cover of Kelis' annoying-as-frick "Milkshake". MIA who I equate as "Gwen Stefani if she were good", make their first appearance on any of my mixes, though I do expect more from them soon with "Galang". The Cops have an alternately catchy/annoying track with "Wallet/Puffer/Smokes/Keys" and the Regurgitator (awful name, by the way, mate) has a nice song called "The Drop" next. Chester Bennington manages to get in on a song that I am almost borderling loving, and of course it's not getting played hardly, it's "Walking Dead" by DJ Z-Trip. And I honestly have no explanation for why I like the Pussycat Dolls track, or why the Pussycat Dolls, whom I thought were some kind of strip-tease group or something are even recording music, so we're even. Citizen Cope turns in a track that reminds me of that old Trik Turner track "Friends + Family", I wonder what happened to them. Anyway Liam Titcomb (ha, tit) brings along his "Sad Eyes", to which Bettie Serveert replies "Attagirl". Yeah, and the Diamond Nights "Girl's Attrative" also sounds oddly like Morrissey to me. Anna Nalick, whom I discovered, from, of all places, seeing her on VH1, has a wonderful track with "Breathe (2AM)", and could come close to being up there with Michelle Branch in my mind, especially since Michelle has gone and started a band instead of continuing her solo work, WHICH WAS JUST STUPID! Ahem... Embrace finally gets on a mix after being shut out a couple times with the track "Gravity" and the Impossible Shapes chime in with a song called "Bombs". Carbon Leaf comes in with a track I originally though was an Ash cover when I downloaded it, "Life Less Ordinary" and Great Lake Swimmers close this disc off with the melancholy "I Will Never See The Sun".
