Comment:

My summers usually don't sound like this. Musically-speaking, they usually contain wall-to-wall merriment and catchy pop/rock celebrations. And while this one has its share of positivity (especially in the mix's first half) and isn't exactly sad, its overriding mood is not one of jubilance, but rather bittersweetness and pensivity. Or at least, that's the way I hear it. My music tastes seem to be gradually shifting in that direction. I still love happy, exuberant music, but I just don't seem to find it as often these days. My ears steer more toward songs that characterize that nebulous mood in-between happy and sad. That saddens me a little - I wish I could go back to those cheerier days - but I also find it an interesting transition to observe. Anyway, if nothing else, these are a bunch of songs I am currently loving, each for their own unique reasons.
