Comment:

Please forgive how erratic this one looks. Not that my mixes are ever really all that cohesive...which is why I'm glad to have concocted a new excuse, er, gimmick for justifying that fact. Frankly, I'm surprised it took me so long to think of it: whenever I get around to making a mix and find that the songs simply don't fit together well thematically or sonically, I will craft it in the tradition of a radio station playlist. This is what Radio Mike is playing these days. Of course it's also playing all the songs I put on that mix I made just 3 days ago, but with radio, you really gotta stay fresh and up-to-date, so no lingering on the past here, with one crucial exception (I love "I'm a Vampire" too much to let go just yet). Anyway, yeah, so if it looks like these songs don't belong together in any way, shape, or form, just consider the format. It's my own personal, private radio station. I'd be more than happy to share it with anyone, or to know that anyone likes it, but for now I can still afford to keep it on the air with or without listener approval. Oh, and a few notes: a majority of this mix is like an extension of my previous mix(-es) because, well, I liked those songs so well that I sought out more music from the same artists. Hence the continued abundance of Rilo Kiley, for one thing. As for the New Pornographers, they have a new album out next month, and I've been lucky enough to receive advanced copies of all the songs, all of which are fantastic, so I couldn't help but jam this mix with them. But I only selected the very best ones, I promise. Happy July :)
