Comment:

I cooked this up to let the (mostly positive) memories from Ken Burns' "Jazz" documentary linger for a few more days. I confined this set only to the artists he featured in the 10-part series. There's been lots of debate about who got left out, why no electric instrumentalists were included, Wynton Marsalis' nearsighted view of what defines jazz, etc., but the whole genre got a pretty good ride out of the publicity and, no matter what, there was lots of good music featured throughout. My next project is a two-disc set of the players Burns left out, which probably will be just as good. In the meantime, here's to Burns, Fats, Louis, etc.
