Tudo bem!
this looks like quite a nice listen! am unfamiliar w / all of this.
Opium Eater's Soliloquy
I'd been cheered up, at my chandoo-shop, for years at least two-score,
To perform my daily labour, and was never sick or sore,But they said this must not be;So they've passed a stern decree,And they've made my chandoo-seller shut his hospitable door.
If I'd only cultivated, now, a taste for beer and gin,
Or had learnt at pool or baccarat my neighbour's
coin to win,
I could roam abroad o' nights,And indulge in these delights,
And my soul would not be stigmatized, as being
steeped in sin.
(abbrev., London, 1894)
Me, I think Fitz Hugh Ludlow would happily indulge as well.., Nick Tosches, too! As for me, I'll gather up the feathers and lay them in a round, and grab up tufted pillows to muffle any sound; we'll sit and while away the hours-(seems like minutes to this man), and dream of far-off shores and pipes from distant lands....

While I'm not sure if I could understand an Ecuadorian Opium Eater if he/she confessed to me. I do recognize that this looks great.
interesting stuff
Wow - I'd love to trade for this. Do I have anything that appeals to you?
Looks amazing! Will I need a passport to hear it? Isn't it time we traded again? Bravo.
Sweet & soapy!
I don't know a single thing here, but feel free to get in touch one of these days... maybe then we can trade...
buenisimo, che! though argentina is, in my humble argentinean opinion, sorely underrepresented, that doesn't detract from the magic herein.
Ty for the comment on my mix. I Don't know any of these but looks interesting.
...and you know, it's SO hard to get any good opium these days...This looks very, very interesting! Great work, as always!
Looks like something I'd love to hear. You have no idea how much I love listening to sung Portuguese, even though I can't speak a word. :)
Very nice, not many I'm too familiar, but very intringuing, indeed.
Intriguing stuff Orchid!
Looks fascinating as ever, Lucie. I'm with Siobhan on the sung Portugese score.
Awesome!! words don't do it justice & neither does a mere tracklist, you have to hear this to be swept up in its haunting hypnotic beauty.
I do think my limited Spanish & non-existent Portuguese helped me drift with the vocal tide here, because on the one English-language track (from Argentina), I felt I was suddenly being called back to 'reality', wherever that is. But then the Brazilians carried me away again to another plane. The opium motif is very appropriate as this is compilation is dreamy.
I'm addicted to it!
