Comment:
A totally British Mixinspired by a b/w movie called The Market directed by my god-father Ron Porter and starring my father & actress Nike Arrighi. The movie's run time is approx 25 minutes and has just recently been exhumed from the can & transferred onto VHS. I saw it for the first time today & was shocked by it's brilliance. A brief synopsis a guy & gal meet at Portobello Market, they fall for each other.guy takes her somewhere secluded and tries to have sex with her. Girl escapes & guy heads off. There is no dialogue, but the soundtrack is mixed with the sounds & voices of the market and a stunning score that reminds me of both John Barry & the soundtrack to Kes. It is beautifully filmed by professional camera men & the direction looks like the early work of a great British Film director. My God-Father never made another film and became a teacher though he lived with the late British Actor Peter Woodthorpe whose credits included first performances for Beckett's Waiting For Godot and Harold Pinter's The Caretaker. My mother fulfilled the role of continuity for the film and it was designed etc by the Oscar winning Luciana Arrighi, sister of Nike. Filmed they think in 1961 or 62, it obviously pre-dates swinging London.for instance a wall is grafittied with Mosley Out! My father is going to take it to his agent who has shown an interest in it.

what Orchid said
lots of wickedly indulgent pleasures here, Dom, old chap. I love the steptoe and son track especially!
What Sally said! The Shadows tune reminds me of that classic question: How do you stuff a wild bikini? 36-24-36.
Wow, very interesting, Dom. Excellent glimpse of an time & place and fascinating notes too.

Wow D, cool story/cool mix. I would really like to hear this - and many of your other recent mixes.
Cool liner notes! and lots of fantastic cuts - a lot of effort obviously went into this one. Really nice work, and like that Petula Clark track.
