Comment:

So my friend John showed me his iTunes playlist and basically said, burn whatever you want from here... this is what came out. John's mostly into classic rock, so this ended up being pretty much a compilation of classic rock songs that i really should have had already, but didn't. (The Neutral Milk Hotel track is apparently actually his sister's... go figure....) All in all, this mix makes me feel better about rock as a genre than maybe any other CD. The title's an homage to the Rough Guide series of world music compilations; if someone from an alien culture who'd never heard rock music before (god, there need to be more of those) wanted to start exploring this exotic new art form, this might be a great place to start.

Tell John his sister's got good taste. (Not that there's anything wrong with his taste -- well, Night Ranger aside, and maybe Billy Joel & Elton John as well -- but Neutral Milk Hotel is the greatest.
