Comment:

Abounding strange hybrid. A friend of mine once compared the more baroque tendencies of Irish folk music to electronica, and I realized he was spot-on; both repeat the same instrumental phrase over and over with slow evolution in the instrumentation of the other parts. Much later, I'm compiling an Irish folk CD for a friend, I get stuck, and I decide to add a bunch of video game music tracks just sitting on my computer from the collection of a shared friend of the two of ours. Three somewhat random additions later (tracks 13 and 21 from me (Trinidadian soca and 70's LA rock, respectively), and 23 (electronica remix) from him) and we've got this nice little study in contrasts here. Tracks 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18. 19 and 22 are Irish folk of some sort (or at least Irish folk-derived) and tracks 1, 2, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 17, and 20 are from video game soundtracks. It's good. You'll have to hear it to believe it.

Damn you are good at this mix lark! This stands up for comparison with some of those Ocean Of Sound / ambient collections that David Toop did. Superb work
