Comment:

Okay, okay, this is country-fried rock, a little greasy, but still kicks out the fucking jams at times. When my cousin and I were 5, my uncle (not his dad) used to lay us on the bed in the back bedroom, turn off the lights, put on track 2 and leave us to freak. I used to see that fucking horse outside the window! I was watching a thing on CMT about cowboy songs and someone said track 1 was the scariest song ever, so I thought they'd go perfect together. The drag about putting these on (like Rock 1) as opposed to my little bluegrass and 2 minute rock singles is I can't get more than 20 tracks, with the long crazy horse/stones jams, but hell, for 7-minute songs, they are fairly perfect.

makes me remember my own uncle -- who parked his motorcycle in the living room of his house, played harmonica, electric and acoustic guitar, and the violin like they were extensions of himself and never a day of musical training other than self-education... the dylan and ray charles especially would have been right up his alley. as they used to say, "good stuff maynard!", might just try to put this together myself for a full listen :-)
