At least you stuck to their "good" (i.e., pre-Mag Earwig) period--nice picks, esp. the 7" version of "Teenage FBI" (wasn't that BUTCHERED when they re-made it?!?).

it's because the guy from the cars produced that album...it made gbv lose the low-fi handmade sound, ya know?

Smart picks. My own GBV mix was sunk by my poor decision to try to include something from every LP, EP, tape Rob Pollard left in the bathroom, etc.

I've always had a love/mildly dislike relationship with this band. I think this will be a fine roadmap to get reacquainted.

gbv always had the best live shows i've ever seen. they played for 3 or plus hours, and with a lot of their songs being only like 2minutes long that's a shit ton of songs! plus, they were completely cool with you getting on stage, and singing dancing, hugging what not. but i might be a little bias, being from dayton. i gotta have some home pride.

Yeahm that version of "Teenage FBI" on Do the Collapse, I think its on that one, is just lame. Great mix. I did one myself earlier this year.

love the band, but I feel like a real numbskull here - where did the original Teenage FBI appear then? I have it on 'do the collapse' and liked it - is there a better version then? Good effort . . .

the original appears on the 7" Wish in One Hand, it came out in 97' and then again in 99'.

Also, and probably most easily found is Human Amusements at Hourly Rates (The best of Guided By Voices). I believe that also features the original version of Teenage FBI.
