No, they really were much darker. "America", "A Most Peculiar Man", "The Boxer" and "Bookends" all filled with despair, but no less brilliant for that. Good Mix, Groovy selection.
When it really comes down to it they're a bit too jolly for me, but they did write some really good songs.
